VLESS (Very Lightweight Encryption Security Stream) is a protocol developed by the V2Ray project as an evolution of VMess. Unlike traditional VPN protocols that were designed for privacy and speed, VLESS was designed from the ground up with one singular goal: complete invisibility to Deep Packet Inspection systems.
The key innovation is radical simplicity. While OpenVPN adds over 100 bytes of protocol overhead to every packet, VLESS adds just 25–50 bytes. More importantly, those bytes contain no distinctive patterns that DPI can fingerprint. Active Probing is the most sophisticated technique. When the DPI system suspects a server might be running a VPN, it actively connects to it and attempts a protocol handshake. If the server responds with VPN-specific behavior, it gets blacklisted. This is how most Shadowsocks and Trojan servers eventually get caught. VLESS’s architecture is brilliantly simple. The entire protocol header looks like this:

Shadowsocks was the workhorse for years. The original implementation was blocked, then people added obfuscation plugins. Those worked until September 2024, when Russia deployed updated DPI signatures. Now even heavily obfuscated Shadowsocks gets detected within hours. Detection rate: 95%. Trojan was considered the “undetectable” protocol because it mimicked HTTPS so well. It worked perfectly until August 2025, when active probing became widespread. The problem is that Trojan servers respond to invalid requests in a distinctive way. Once DPI systems started actively probing suspected servers, Trojan’s cover was blown. Detection rate: 90%.
Running VLESS on a bare IP address is suicide. Even with perfect protocol camouflage, IP-based blocking will catch you eventually. The solution is CDN integration, specifically Cloudflare.
The fallback location serves a real website, so if someone browses to your domain, they see legitimate content. Only requests to the specific WebSocket path get proxied to V2Ray.
The Future: REALITY and Beyond The V2Ray team isn’t standing still. The next evolution is called REALITY, which takes TLS mimicry even further. Instead of using your own TLS certificate, REALITY pretends to be an existing website. 我第一次见她，是在七月最闷热的夜里。
那时我刚搬进旧城区，租下二楼一间临街的房子。每天夜里，总会闻到一种奇异气味，从窗缝缓缓钻进来——像薄荷，又像蜂蜜，带着一点湿润泥土的甜。
闻久了，人会做梦。
梦里总有一个女人，赤脚站在雨里，裙摆湿透，手指轻轻划过我的喉结。她低声说：
“香蜂草会让人记起最想忘掉的东西。”
我以为只是幻觉。
直到某天凌晨，我在楼下真的看见了她。

民国二十七年，南洋的雨总带着化不开的湿腻，我在槟城的旧巷里，遇见了开着香蜂草花房的苏晚。
那巷子藏在骑楼深处，终年不见直射的日光，空气里浮着浓得化不开的草木甜香，不是寻常茉莉栀子的艳俗，是清冽里裹着蜜意，像少女唇上未干的胭脂，又像深夜里勾人的耳语，丝丝缕缕往骨头缝里钻。旁人都说这巷子邪性，白日里也阴沉沉的，独独苏晚的花房，永远敞着木门，满院的香蜂草长得疯野，淡白色的小花簇在翠叶间，引着成群的蜜蜂绕着花房飞，却从没有一只敢撞进木门半步。
我是落魄的文人，靠写些志怪艳情的话本换酒钱，闻着这异香寻进来时，苏晚正坐在藤椅上碾香。她穿一身月白的软缎旗袍，领口开得极低，露出一截莹白的颈子，乌发松松挽着，几缕碎发贴在颊边，眉眼淡得像水墨画，唯独一双眼，瞳仁极黑，看人的时候，像浸在温水里的碎冰，柔媚里藏着说不清的寒意。
她抬眼望我，指尖还捻着碾碎的香蜂草花叶，香气骤然浓了三分，我竟瞬间失了神，耳边只剩蜜蜂振翅的嗡鸣，浑身的血液都跟着那香气发烫，心底翻涌着压抑半生的情欲，缠缠绵绵，挣脱不得。
“先生寻香，还是寻人？”她的声音也带着香蜂草的甜软，尾音轻轻勾着，像一根细羽毛，撩拨着人心底最隐秘的角落。
我喉头发紧，说不出话，只盯着她指尖的青绿汁液，那香气顺着呼吸入肺，竟让我想起年少时求而不得的痴念，想起深夜里无人知晓的绮梦，所有被礼教压住的欲望，都在这香气里疯长。
此后我日日往花房去，苏晚从不拒人，只陪着我坐在香蜂草丛中，煮茶、碾香，说些南洋的奇闻异事。她的肌肤永远微凉，哪怕在溽热的雨季，也带着草木的清寒，偶尔指尖擦过我的手背，那一点触碰，竟比最烈的春药更勾人，让我整夜辗转，梦里全是她的眉眼，和漫山遍野的香蜂草。
我渐渐发现，这花房的诡异之处。
香蜂草遇雨不谢，遇霜不枯，南洋的酷暑里，别的花草都蔫萎垂头，唯独它长得愈发繁盛，香气日夜不散。更奇的是，苏晚从不出这花房半步，白日里蜜蜂环绕，入夜后，巷子里的野猫野狗，连叫都不敢叫一声，远远绕开。
有一夜暴雨，我宿在花房的偏室，夜半被浓郁得近乎窒息的香蜂草香气惊醒。推开门，只见苏晚赤足站在雨里，周身的香蜂草花叶无风自动，淡白的小花纷纷飘落，粘在她的旗袍上、发间，那些绕着花房飞了整日的蜜蜂，此刻竟密密麻麻围在她周身，却没有一只敢落在她身上。
她背对着我，肩头微微起伏，月光穿透雨幕落在她身上，我竟看见她莹白的后颈处，缓缓绽开一朵淡绿色的花痕，形状与香蜂草的小花分毫不差，花瓣舒展间，香气铺天盖地而来。
我浑身僵住，情欲与恐惧缠在一起，那香气香得邪性，香得蚀骨，让我既想转身逃离，又想不顾一切扑过去，将她揉进怀里。
她缓缓转身，脸上没有半分平日的柔媚，眉眼间覆着一层千年不化的清冷，那双黑瞳里，竟映出无数飞舞的蜜蜂虚影。“先生既看见了，便该知道，我本不是人。”
雨水打湿她的旗袍，贴身裹出玲珑的曲线，香蜂草的香气混着雨气，香艳到了极致，也诡谲到了极致。
她说，百年前，她是这巷子里的青楼女子，痴恋一位书生，倾尽所有助他功名，却在他金榜题名时，被他狠心毒杀，弃尸在这荒巷里。她临死前攥着一把从西域带回的香蜂草种子，含恨立誓，愿化身为草，以香气为引，勾尽世间薄情负心之人的情欲与魂魄，生生世世，困在这巷子里。
香蜂草是引魂之草，蜜意藏毒，柔媚带煞。它的香气能勾出人心底最深的欲望，让人沉沦在香艳绮梦里无法自拔，待情根深种、神魂俱醉之时，便会被香气一点点吸走阳气，最终化作花肥，滋养着这满院的草木。
这些年，无数男人被这异香引来，醉倒在她的温柔乡中，最后都无声无息消失在巷子里，只留下满院愈发浓郁的香气。
我站在雨里，浑身发烫，非但没有半分惧意，反而被那极致的香艳与诡秘勾得心神荡漾。她明明是噬人的花妖，可眼波流转间，依旧是让我魂牵梦萦的模样，那香气裹着恨意与情欲，缠上我的四肢百骸，我宁愿死在这绮梦之中，也不愿离开这方花房。
我一步步走向她，伸手拂去她发间的花瓣，指尖触到她微凉的肌肤，轻声道：“我不是薄情之人，甘愿做你花下之肥，岁岁年年，守着这香蜂草，守着你。”
她笑了，眉眼间的清冷散去，又变回了那个柔媚勾人的苏晚，踮起脚尖吻上我的唇。唇齿间全是香蜂草的甜香，温柔又致命，我闭上眼，任由那香气吞噬我的神魂，沉沦在这香艳离奇的宿命里。
此后，槟城的旧巷里，依旧飘着化不开的甜香。花房里的香蜂草长得愈发疯野，只是再也没有外人能走进那扇木门。
有人说，每到雨夜，就能看见花房里依偎着两个人影，满院的蜜蜂飞舞，香气能飘出半条巷。那香气香得蚀骨，艳得勾魂，藏着百年的恨意，也藏着一场飞蛾扑火的痴恋。
而我，早已化作香蜂草根系间的一缕魂魄，与她一起，困在这永恒的香艳迷梦里，生生世世，永不分离。
